Jessica's Wedding at The Shire

In September we opened the doors to our newly restored events space for the first time. Jessica’s wedding became the perfect example of what we want to offer couples across Northamptonshire, Milton Keynes, and the surrounding areas, a calm, elegant countryside wedding venue designed for weekend long celebrations.

Guests shared that the approach through the countryside immediately sets a different pace for the special day.

Inside, the event space has been restored with the same attention to detail my family have put into restoring and re-wilding the land for decades. High ceilings, soft lighting, and a warm, timeless feel made it a perfect spot for receptions. The walled garden, positioned right outside of Grafton House, gave the wedding a nice indoor-outdoor flow, in September guests gathered on the lawns and around the fire pit in the evening.

For Jessica’s wedding, these two spaces worked exactly as intended, indoors and outdoors flowing together, guests moving naturally between both, and the celebration feeling relaxed throughout the evening. It reinforced what we designed the venue for, weddings that adapt to your style, your suppliers, and your desired pace.

As a family-run venue, my role is to ensure the planning is simple and the day itself feels seamless. Couples bring in their preferred caterers, florists, musicians and events manager, and we support.

Jessica closed her celebration with a fireworks display and shared this about having her wedding at The Shire:
